James' Reflection & RECOMMENDATIONS
This year was definitely my favorite year of engineering that we've had. I really enjoyed the freedom we had to work on our capstone. Sometimes it was a bit of a struggle trying to reach each of the deadlines, but even though we missed a few here and there, we stayed busy the whole time and were productive enough that it wasn't a problem for us. I think Decklan, Cade, and I worked really well as a group. Sometimes it was a little tough when some of us would be absent due to sports or other commitments, but we were able to communicate outside of school to make sure we stayed on track at all times. Whether we were brainstorming together, or just listening to music researching by ourselves, we really worked well together and came up with something that really works and solves a real problem in today's world.
Decklan's Reflection & Recommendations
I really enjoyed this year of engineering. The first two projects gave me a feel of the other 3 years- structured, time constrained, and a set of clear guidelines. What I really enjoyed about Capstone is that while we had structure, you got to create your own invention, and get the work done as you pleased. I liked the freedom that my group and I had- we were able to listen to music, work individually as well as together, and pick our own groups. I think all three of these factors contributed to my groups success- we were never stressed doing our work and I personally believe I work best while listening to music. I also work quite well individually, and I was able to assist and be assisted by the partners of my choosing which really benefited our project and our work ethic. We all kept each other in check in regards to getting done what needed to be done, and had fun through this seamless project. I am satisfied with our final product, and while I don't think taking it to market is a realistic plan, nonetheless I am very proud of the Butter Buddy. The only recommendation I have is to maybe free up a little more time in parts A-C by taking some things out or requiring a little less to give more time for prototyping and modifying. My group and I didn't really have any problems in regards to time, however I think many other groups did and it is something to consider doing.
Cade's Reflection & Recommendations
Mrs. Zienty,
Thank you for everything you've done for all of us the past four years. It seems like it was just last week I was touring the school just to see the engineering program and all it had to offer when I was home schooled in eighth grade. At the same time, it feels like just yesterday when I was in sophomore year helping explain all the program has to offer to eighth graders that were doing the same tour that I did. You have been the best teacher I have ever had in the sense of actually teaching new material well, and doing projects that really help the student understand the material. This class has never failed to completely rack my mind and make me think outside the box. You've taught me almost everything I know about engineering, and you've always kept me and my classmates on track to achieving great things in the future and for that I'll never be able to thank you enough. Good luck with all of your future classes and students, and thank you again for everything.
Sincerely,
James Mathias
